Days of the week and months of the year in Portuguese

Welcome to our Portuguese Basic Tips in which we are going to speak about the days of the week and months of the year in Portuguese

Sometimes when we are learning a new language, we give too much importance to the conversation part, which is a great way to change quickly; however, we must be careful not to overlook the simplest situations of the language.

Today we are going to speak about the days of the week and about the months of the year in Portuguese.

I think this is an easy matter to understand, but it is an essential topic in your Portuguese training. So, I suggest you try to focus on the pronunciation details and repeat the audio as many times as necessary, until you have realized that you managed to learn all about it.

Days of the week in Portuguese

Try to repeat with me:

Sunday – domingo

Monday – segunda (or segunda-feira)

Tuesday – terça (or terça-feira)

Wednesday – quarta (or quarta-feira)

Thursday – quinta (or quinta-feira)

Fryday – sexta (or sexta-feira)

Saturday – sábado

Yeah! I think you made it! If not, c’mon, don’t be shy. Repeat the audio over and over.

Months of the year in Portuguese

Now, let’s move forward to learn about the months of the year in Portuguese.

Again, try to repeat with me:

January – janeiro

February – fevereiro

March – março

April – Abril

May – maio

June – junho

July – julho

August – agosto

September – setembro

October – outubro

November – novembro

December – dezembro

Ok, the last thing I think you should know about this topic is that in English we use capital letters to write both: the days of the week and the months of the year; in Portuguese, you should use lowercase to write them.
